Behavioral Health Technician (3rd Shift Supervisor)

POSITION DESCRIPTION

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors by addressing security issues and maintaining compliance with facility policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and maintain the level of quality patient care expected. Insures adherence to quality assurance program goals and objectives.
  • Effectively communicates with other BHT Shift Supervisors to ensure adequate staffing on all shifts as well as communicates operational critical information from one shift to the next.
  • Effectively communicates, motivates, and holds accountable all behavior techs.
  • Responsible for interviewing, training, supervising, corrective actions, improvement plans, performance management and annual performance reviews of all Clinical Technicians, Drivers and Security.
  • Develops and arranges staffing schedules to ensure all shifts are fully covered.
  • Must be highly energized and self-motivated.
  • Must be able to adapt quickly and work in changing and stressful situations.
  • Serves as a representative for the staff and patients, acting as liaison between management and tech staff.
  • Oversees their shift and the facility to ensure proper administrative leadership and management during weekends and holidays, as needed.
  • Assist with bed management and coordination of dorm assignments.
  • Ensures all departmental and company policies and standards are followed.
  • Interacts with community partners, referral partners and regulatory agencies.
  • Oversee monitoring of patient population, including monitoring of video camera feeds.
  • Oversee daily house schedule and ensure patient participation in activities.
  • Monitor patient itineraries and furloughs to ensure accountability and program compliance.
  • Address patient issues, including formal grievances, to resolution.
  • Attend staff meetings, case conferences and in-service training sessions.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in Phoenix House Florida's electronic health record system (Welligent).
  • Monitoring of dorm environment (staff and patient safety/risk), including performing FOB runs.
  • Ensure patient dorms are satisfactorily maintained: clean and well kept.
  • Oversee the transportation program to ensure proper transportation of clients, coordination of admissions, monitoring facility vehicle usage, including cleaning and maintenance.
  • Coordinates techs and transportation during assigned shift(s) to meet scheduling and operational needs.
  • Oversees and develops tools and processes to increase productivity, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Creates an environment that achieves client satisfaction.
  • On-call status 24/7 to address unforeseen issues, as necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to all Phoenix House rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Required Key Performance Indicators (KPI):

  • Ensure all supervisees have met 100% of their KPI's:
    • 99% accuracy in entering E.H.R. information.
  • Arrive on time to work and scheduled deliveries/transporting 95%.
  • Medication errors are less than .5% per patient days (non-process).
  • Complete 100% of required trainings within specified time frames
  • Complete Medical Technician Certification within 30 days of hire
  • Successful completion of apprenticeship program and CBHT exam
  • All new hires will meet competency expectations within the first 30 days and ongoing.
  • 100% of performance evaluations will be completed for all employees by direct supervisors on a quarterly basis.
  • 100% of all new hires will receive weekly supervision for the first 90 days.
  • Client Satisfaction rate must be 90% or better.
  • Overtime costs must not exceed 1.5% of department salaries.
  • Annual employee turnover must not exceed 30%.
  • Maintain required staffing levels for respective shift 100% of the time.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Knowledge of legal, emotional, and physical needs of target clientele.
  2. Ability to establish appropriate boundaries and un-possessive, professional relationships with all clients in treatment, including former clients served.
  3. Possess strong supervisory skills to include training and performance management.
  4. Ability to maintain good working relationships with all coworkers and the general public and to use good judgment in recognizing scope of authority.
  5. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  6. Ability to take a teamwork approach to the job by cooperating with others, offering to help when needed, and considering larger organization or team goals rather than individual concerns. This includes the ability to help build a constructive team spirit where team members are committed to the goals and objectives of the team.
  7. Ability to operate general office equipment.
  8. Ability to work with a diverse criminal justice population.
  9. Possess excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal relationship, and time-management skills.
  10. Must be computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office with internet capabilities.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • An Associate degree in the area of substance abuse, psychology, social work, clinical or related field is preferred (may consider relevant experience in lieu of a degree).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a substance abuse treatment and/or mental health setting required. Experience working with criminal justice offenders is a plus.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/CEUs

  • Must maintain required continuing education specifically related to any certification held, Phoenix House requirements, and regulatory and licensing agency requirements.
  • Valid Florida driver's license, without one (1) or more Type A (Major) violations in the past three (3) years and/or no more than three (3) or more Type B (minor) violations in the past three (3) years.
  • Must have or complete certification as a Certified Behavioral Health Technician (CBHT) within hundred eighty (180) days from date of hire. This certification is a mandatory requirement.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

REGULARLY REQUIRED: to stand, walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk; hear and to stoop, kneel or crouch and lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment is that of a substance abuse treatment milieu which may include:

  • Exposure to clients infected with Hepatitis B, HIV, TB, or other Infectious Diseases
  • Business-related travel may be required

SCHEDULING NEEDS

Residential setting - Days, Nights, Weekends and Holiday shifts may be required, based on organizational needs.
