JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Maintain a clinical caseload.

- Perform mental health screening and biopsychosocial assessments on potential residents

and make judgments on admission or referral out.

- Provide individual, group and family counseling and facilitate special clinical groups as

requested.

- Maintain current, accurate and confidential clinical charts and submit all documentation and

reports in a timely manner.

- Facilitate seminars and workshops as directed.

- Maintain ongoing communication with the resident structure to determine the overall

environment of the community, identify problems and possible solutions, and help

coordinate the smooth transition of scheduled activities.

- Hold residents accountable when necessary for inappropriate or negative behaviors and

utilize effective confrontation techniques and behavior interventions to help improve

behavior.

- Ensure debriefing with staff at the beginning and end of each shift with the oncoming staff

and provide thorough written communication through documentation of daily activities in the

staff communication log.

- Ensure immediate communication with facility leadership on incidents involving absconders,

physical violence, suicidal threats, physical accidents involving staff or residents and extreme

negative behavior.

- Perform property and body screens to identify alcohol and drugs, weapons, paraphernalia, or

other inappropriate belongings on incoming prospects and residents returning from off

property activities.

- Perform drug screens.

- Oversee self-administration of medication by residents.

- Adhere to all Phoenix House rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

- Ensure program integrity and quality through effective compliance with contracting agency

guidelines.

- Participate in staff meetings and training exercises as directed.

- Represent Phoenix House in court, interagency meetings, and community affairs, as directed.

- Demonstrate proficiency in Phoenix House's electronic health record system (Welligent)

sufficient to fulfill the duties required by this position within 30 days of employment.

- Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Key Performance Indicators (KPI):

- Complete targeted direct service hours = 1820 hours per year

- Concurrent documentation is expected and all notes completed on the same day of service

100% of the time.

- Meet Recovery goals through change of level of care within set time frame 90% of the time.

- 100% of events provided will be on the active treatment plan.

- No show rate can exceed 10%.

- 99% accuracy in E.H.R. on entering information.

- 100% of the required training will be completed within specified time frames.

- 100% of form completion.

- AMA rate not to exceed 20%.

- Client Satisfaction rate must be 90% or better.

- Team members will meet category B within 45 days and category A within 90 days.

- Knowledge of emotional and physical needs of substance abusers.

- Ability to work with diverse criminal justice and non-offender populations.

clients in treatment, including former clients served.

- Must possess effective clinical counseling skills and be able to write effective treatment

plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and any other related correspondence.

- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal

relationship skills.

- Must possess excellent time-management and organizational skills.

- Ability to maintain a good working relationship with all co-workers and the general public and

to use good judgment in recognizing scope of authority.

- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

- Ability to take a teamwork approach to the job by cooperating with others, offering to help

others when needed, and considering larger organization or team goals rather than individual

concerns. This includes the ability to help build a constructive team spirit where team

members are committed to the goals and objectives of the team.

- Must be computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

- Ability to operate general office equipment in the completion of job responsibilities.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

- Master's degree in related field

- One-year previous counseling experience in substance abuse treatment or mental

health setting required.

- Previous experience in a Therapeutic Community (TC) setting preferred.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/CEUs:

Valid Driver's license and clean driving record, with no more than 4 points, required.
