ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs any combination of cleaning duties to maintain residential facilities in a clean and orderly manner.
- Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors and other work areas so that health standards are met.
- Clean rugs, carpets and upholstered furniture using vacuum cleaners and/or shampooers.
- Empty wastebaskets, transport trash and waste to disposal areas.
- Sweep, scrub, way and/or polish floors, using brooms, mops and/or powered scrubbing machines.
- Dust and polish furniture, equipment and window blinds.
- Disinfect bathrooms, showers, and kitchen areas using appropriate cleaners.
- Replenish supplies such as linens and bathroom items as needed.
- Keep storage areas and carts well-stocked, clean and tidy.
- Remove debris from sidewalks and other common areas.
- Ensure that all rooms are cared for and inspected according to standards.
- Protecting cleaning equipment and making sure there are no inadequacies or faulty equipment; report any repair needs to supervisor in a timely manner.
- Observe precautions required to protect staff and patients, and report damage, theft, and found articles to supervisors.
- Ensure adherence to all Phoenix House rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Adhere to quality assurance program goals and objectives.
- Participate in staff meetings and training exercises as directed.
- Monitors the safety of the environment and communicates concerns appropriately with supervisors.

- Proven experience as a cleaner, housekeeper, or janitor.
- Ability to work with a diverse patient population, including a criminal justice population.
- Ability to work with little supervision and maintain a high level of performance.
- Customer-oriented and friendly.
- Possess excellent verbal communication, interpersonal relationships, and time-management skills.
- Must be computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office with internet capabilities.
- Ability to maintain a good working relationship with all coworkers and the general public and to use good judgment in recognizing the scope of authority.
- Ability to establish appropriate boundaries and un-possessive, professional relationships with all patients in treatment.
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
- Ability to take a teamwork approach to the job by cooperating with others, offering to help others when needed, and consider larger organization or team goals rather than individual concerns. Includes the ability to build a constructive team spirit where team members are committed to the goals and objectives of the team.
- Ability to operate general office/cleaning equipment in the completion of job responsibilities.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience working in a hospital or residential treatment facility preferred.
A combination of directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a High School Diploma or GED.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/CEUs
Must maintain required continuing education specifically related to any certification held, Phoenix House requirements, and regulatory and licensing agency requirements.
